What is Industrial Hygiene?

Industrial Hygiene Defined: Industrial Hygiene is the science and art devoted to the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, prevention, and control of those environmental factors or stresses arising in or from the workplace which may cause sickness, impaired health and well being, or significant discomfort among workers or among citizens of the community (Source: American Industrial Hygiene Association).

Comprehensive Industrial Hygiene Consultants

Since 1981, Cashins & Associates has served as a comprehensive practice industrial hygiene consulting firm. Our experienced group of industrial hygienists can help your company ensure that employees, visitors, and family members are not impacted negatively by workplace exposures. Some exposures that can cause long-term health implications include toxic dust, noise, chemicals, and gases.

We have several Board Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIH) on staff. These individuals have been certified as professional level industrial hygienists by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene. The certification process looks to ensure that an individual has appropriate college education, has sufficient industrial hygiene work experience under the direction of a current CIH, and then passes a rigorous examination testing science, math and industrial hygiene knowledge. To learn more the CIH designation, visit the ABIH web page

When evaluating an Occupational Health and Safety Consulting Firm ensure that they have a CIH on staff. This is critical to be assured that qualified health and safety professionals are working on your behalf.
